Meditation Matters

A beauty in Itself

Meditation is a state of consciousness; an altered state of consciousness. In its technical definition, meditation is the controlled modification of a person’s brainwaves. When you are able to coax your brainwaves into the Alpha or Theta range you experience “meditation”.

But I believe that the meditative experience is more than just a shift in our brainwaves. This shift in the brainwaves is just the physical aspect of a discipline that is so much more.

Meditation is a time when you let go, disconnect from your physical body and senses and explore your true self, your source.

But how does meditation benefit us? Well, there are many benefits that you will experience when you incorporate meditation into your daily regimen. There are too many to list, but I’ll give you a few:

Physical Benefits

· Lowered blood pressure

· Improved immune system functioning

· Decreased need for sleep

· Increased energy

· Lowering of your stress levels

Emotions

· Feeling of bliss

· Facilitates a shift in perspective allowing a more positive outlook on life.

· Eases changes in habits

· Helps you keep your temper in check

· Increased focus

Spiritual

· Discover your connection to source

· Discover your true self

· Find your own answers to spiritual questions

· Out of Body Experiences (OBE)

I want to stress that most of these benefits are not just speculation but scientifically proven. I point this out to help you make the decision to start a meditation routine. I think these benefits are a pretty good reason to start, don’t you?

In the next section I will go over the basics of meditation. Breathing, posture, hand position and more.

Mind Over Matter

Intrigue

What your body can do depends on what your mind can conceive. It’s all like a camera. Whatever the lens captures, the film prints. Don’t expect a photo of something that was not captured by the lens.

The body can only come up with a potential that the mind can imagine. The mind is designed as a command center, and the body serves as production department. When the mind is strong, the body will obey. When the mind is creative, the body will create accordingly.

When the reverse happens, inability sets in. When the mind is weak and overwhelmed, the body takes over and commands the mind. Thus, at the slightest hint of difficulty and pain, the body will give up and tell the mind it can do no more.

The mind can do nothing except agree with the spoiled body, and quit. For example, when you have chosen to exercise every morning, but when morning comes any excuse will do for not getting out of bed. If the mind is too weak to oppose the body, the mind will lose. From that abnormal scenario will flow an equally abnormal life. All issues in life will spread from that, and you will have a total wreck on your hands.

However, the mind can be strengthened by training it to make decisions the body will obey. If you adopt a life principle, a lifestyle, make sure everything you do is based on it. The mind decides what is right and the body is given practical things to do in relation to it.

Once the mind decides something the body is unwilling to do, a tug-of-war starts. What decides the outcome of this battle is how well the mind was trained.

Training of the mind comes to us in many ways. When you resist that high calorie dessert, you have given your mind a little more strength. When you do two more pushups than you normally do, you have given more power to your mind. When you push yourself out of bed in the morning and do your exercise program, your mind become the controller. You start getting what you want out of life.

One of the easiest ways to strengthen your mind and resolve is through meditation and brainwave training. Yet this too takes your mind to control the body to actually do the training. Luckily this training is easy to start and actually fun to do!

Next we will cover how regular meditation can be the key to becoming the master of your mind.

Time is on Your Side

Self Help No Comments »
24-hours-clock painted by Paolo Uccello in San...Image via Wikipedia

Do you ever think if you only had more time, then you could accomplish all that you need to do?

Me too!  But I soon realized that every day I’m only given 24 hours, no more and no less than every one else.

So how could others accomplish so much with the same time that I have each day?

Luckily I found an excellent book called “How to Live on 24 Hours a Day”.  It really was an eye opener and made me realize that I too can learn to utilize my time more efficiently and get more out of my give time deposit each day.

I wanted to share this book with everyone and that is exactly what I have done.  Just go here

http://www.healingproducts.com/24hours.htm

On this page you will be able to download the book in a PDF format and you will be able to LISTEN to the book if you prefer.

I love audiobooks and if you do too, you will really like listening to this insightful book.
